MotoGP Til Now

Right, I've been soooo neglectful! How could I be??? Okay, full MotoGP update!!!!!

Riders of note:
  • Valeninto ROSSI - Camel Yamaha - for obvious reasons.
  • Casey STONER - Honda LCR - One of the new guns up from the 250 class. He's Australian, & heralds from the same town as me, so obviously I'll be extra interested in his progress in my favourite sport.
  • Sete GIBERNAU - Ducati Marlboro - Had problems all last year & ended up with the kick out of the Honda garage, perhaps a change of machinery will help...
  • Loris CAPIROSSI - Ducati Marlboro - Looking strong, & he's a veteran doing well. Showing the Japanese that there bikes aren't the only ones on the grid.
  • Dani PEDROSA - Repsol Honda - Another 250 class jumper, probably the more anticipated, as he has consecutive titles in the 125cc & 250cc classes. Unlikely that he'll be able to repeat his 125 - 250 jump & win the championship in his first year, but he'll sure make an impression. Some people, in terms of skill & determination have dubbed him the next Rossi.
  • Nicky HAYDEN - Repsol Honda - Was looking strong the end of last year, & has now got a MotoGP victory under his belt, but he needs to get his head out of third place, or else he may not win anywhere but Laguna Seca.
  • Marco MELANDRI - Fortuna Honda - Made quite a show last year, & secured second in the championship
Soo, that leaves the calander for this season:
  • 26th March - Jerez (Spain)
  • 08th April - Losail (Qatar)
  • 30th April - Istanbul (Turkey)
  • 14th May - Shanghai (China)
  • 21st May - Le Mans (France)
  • 04th June - Mugello (Italy)
  • 18th June - Catalunya (Spain)
  • 24th June - Assen (Holland)
  • 02nd July - Donington Park (Britain)
  • 16th July - Sachsenring (Germany)
  • 23rd July - Laguna Seca (USA)
  • 20th August - Brno (Czech Republic)
  • 10th September - Sepang (Malaysia)
  • 17th September - Phillip Island (Australia)
  • 24th September - Motegi (Japan)
  • 15th October - Estoril (Portugal)
  • 29th October - Ricardo Tormo (Valencia)
Sooo, there's already been three races this season (so neglectful of me!!)

26th March: Jerez (Spain)
  1. Loris CAPIROSSI
  2. Dani PEDROSA
  3. Nicky HAYDEN
Rossi had a tumble in turn one of lap one after Toni Elias moved to avoid hitting Shinya Nakano only to tap the back of Rossi's bike, sending Rossi rolling. Rossi was back on the bike though, & managed two championship points in 14th place. Great race & battle from/between Capirossi & Pedrosa aswell!

08th April: Losail (Qatar)
  1. Valentino ROSSI
  2. Nicky HAYDEN
  3. Loris CAPIROSSI
Gibernau proved that a change of machinery doesn't help when he raised his hand early in the race, as there was mechanical failure...

30th April: Istanbul (Turkey)
  1. Marco MELANDRI
  2. Casey STONER
  3. Nicky HAYDEN
  4. Valentino ROSSI
Afternot qualifying overly well Rossi did well to come back into fourth. No such luck for Pedrosa though, as he crashed out while chasing for second.

World Standings
  1. Nicky HAYDEN -- 52
  2. Loris CAPIROSSI -- 51
  3. Marco MELANDRI -- 45
  4. Casey STONER -- 41
  5. Valentino ROSSI -- 40
  6. Dani PEDROSA -- 32
  7. Toni ELIAS -- 32
  8. Shinya NAKANO -- 22
  9. Colins EDWARDS -- 19
  10. Sete GIBERNAU -- 18

Next race at Shanghai (China) on the 14th of May.
