75th Year at Assen

Not as tight a race this week as it was for third place at Catalunya, but I enjoyed it all the same. I haven't had the chance to re-watch the race yet though. Marco Melandri took second place on the podium, behind Valentino Rossi. It was a good result for Yamaha, as Colin Edwards achieved third again this weekend. Assen also celebrated it's 75th year running of MotoGP, with Honda presenting a certificate with all the Honda wins at the track; Honda being the most successful factory at Assen.
  1. Rossi
  2. Melandri
  3. Edwards

Next race is at Laguna Seca (USA) on the 10th of July.

Ah, & one thing I normally don't comment on: What the hell happened to Stoner? I usually check the results of the 250 race, hoping to see Casey Stoner up there, & he's in 5th...I do still hope he comes up to the premier class for 2006 though

Su Cruickshank

When we get the weekend paper here, I go straight to the Weekender & read Su Cruickshank's column. Su is a wonderful writer, talking about various issues, events, etc, especially those concerning the Newcastle area. She is a constant inspiration for me, never failing to make me believe I'm interesting in things that previously never concerned me. Okay, so to the point of this entry: I sent Su an e-mail, asking for her opinion on my Personal Interest Project (PIP) for Society & Culture that I'm studying at school. I recieved an e-mail back & will be speaking to her over the phone later on in the week, I'm just "wow" about the whole thing, as I never expected to get to speak to her, only e-mail her. But I will be speaking to her, I'm trying to just get myself together & not just be "wow, You're actually talking to me". So yea, I'm really happy to get the chance to speak to someone who has been an inspiration to me for a while now.

There was a good battle for third though, involving Alex Barros, Marco Melandri & Nicky Hayden. Melandri eventually took third, followed by Barros then Hayden.

All Your Base Are Belong To Us

Have you heard of it? If you haven't now you have. I stumbled on this a couple of months ago, can't remember how, but I thought it was pretty amusing.

Mugello

WOoT! So it was a good race at Mugello. I'm sure the Italian crowd was very pleased with the first four finsihes going to four Italians.
  1. Rossi
  2. Biaggi
  3. Capirossi
  4. Melandri

& I look forward to the next race:

Next race is at Catalunya (Spain) on the 12th of June.

Gibernau will most likely be looking for some good results at his home track since he crahed out on the sixth lap at Mugello.
